    Gerwin

    Gerwin is a 21-year-old drum & bass producer from Bordeaux, France. Gerwin has been producing music for most of his life – ‘I first started playing the guitar when I was 12 and I’m still playing. I really discovered drum & bass and electronic music when I was around 17 and started producing when I was 19’. Having already developed a sound for himself, Gerwin describes his music as – ‘My music is “musical” before all. As I listen to a lot of music genres, from soul / jazz/ hip hop to classical / pop / rock, I really need to make dnb with more than a rolling beat and a bassline. To describe it in simple words, I think my music is smooth but fat at the same time, hopeful and definitely melodic’.

    Gerwin recently took out the ‘Seba – Painted Sky’ Remix competition for Knowledge Magazine, and earned himself a 12″ release and a some amazing prizes from the likes of Abelton and Soundcloud. You can catch his debut on Silk – ‘My Hidden Side’ & ‘Superhero’ which is out now and has been reciveing some epic support from main room Dj’s within the scene.

    Into the future who knows what flavours and music Gerwin will bring to the table, be sure of one thing – it will be musical and an amazing listening experince for all.

    Solace Records is pleased to announce its first release. Stepping up for the labels very first release we have none other than ‘Clubroot’, one of dubsteps most successful and talented producers. Clubroot has had a grip firmly on the scene for a numbers of years with his hypnotic and emotional sound. Currently putting the finishing touches on his 3rd artist L.P, the L.P is set to be released on the American based ‘Lo Dubs’ imprint.

    Having received a wide variety of DJ support from across the board – James Zabiela, Sasha to Mary Anne Hobbs, Rob Da Bank and TRG, and glowing reviews from Pitchfork, Bigup Magazine and more – it’s fair to say Clubroot’s sound has touched a nerve and is receiving the attention it rightly deserves.

    ‘Scars’ starts off the ‘A’ side with a thunderous beat and emotive pads that creep their way into the track. Reminiscent of an early DnB vibe, ‘Scars’ soon lets loose with a massive pounding sub and vocal hook that carries the deep and provocative vibe throughout the rest of the track.

    The flip side ‘Hellion’, is the monster of the release. Atmospherics and a menacing under glow build the track to an almighty drop. Razor sharp break beats coupled with huge reece stabs and mid range bass make this one perfect for the late night DJ.

    St Albans based Dan Richmond first immerged into the scene mid 2009 with his debut self-titled Album – Clubroot.
    Citing dark and techy drum and bass, uk garage, and film scores as major sources of inspiration, Clubroot has moulded a solid sound which encapsulates a variety of favoured elements and ingredients lent from underground music gone by.
    With a second Album already under his belt, and a third on the horizon, Clubroot’s sound has continued to grow and mature into a unique blend of ambient soundscapes, thunderous basslines, eclectic beats and ethereal overtones.
    With just as much artistic importance placed on his DJ sets as his production, Clubroot has graced crowds in Russia, Budapest, Poland, Belgium and the US with sets that promise diversity, depth and emotion.
